(Biographical Sketch)

                Mr. Brown’s career spans over 20 years with progressive experience in marketing, public relations, sales, business development, political strategy, lobbying and business networking.  He has served in various political and managerial capacities both in the public and private sector and has demonstrated a successful track record in marketing and sales throughout various regional and national industry channels ranging from retail, to sports and healthcare.  Mr. Brown the entrepreneur founded and currently serves as Executive Partner of Brown Group Consulting, LLC (BGC) a Management Consulting firm based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.  He is responsible for all facets of corporate development, client cultivation/retention and quality control.  As a multi faceted minority owned and operated business, BGC is positioned for phenomenal growth and service delivery excellence in the coming years.  Prior to resuming work with BGC in the winter of 2009, he held a similar position as the SVP, Sales & Marketing at Washington, D.C. headquartered Wilson Technologies, Inc.  where he delivered the companys’ largest contract award in its 12 year history in excess of $25 million for janitorial services at Washington Reagan National Airport. Brown also served as the Franchise Sales Director for Jani-King of Washington, D.C. where he recruited and delivered perspective franchise investors into commercial cleaning operations for this $1 billion dollar company with international franchise ownership.  Before a downturn in the nations’ economy he marketed Medicare Advantage Plans as a Licensed Health Insurance Broker in 15 east coast states. Preparation for this role as a broker was gained in his service as the National Vice President of Sales for UnitedHealth Groups’ AmeriChoice division focused on client growth within the Medicaid & Medicare market.  Before assuming this role he was the Associate Vice President of Marketing & Sales for Amerigroup Mid-Atlantic where he led a Division with membership in excess of 170,000 members and implemented landmark marketing initiatives created specifically for the Medicaid Managed Care market.  Prior to joining Amerigroup he provided tactical political and strategic support and advice to current Camden, N.J. Mayor Gwendolyn A. Faison as her re-election Campaign Director and both the initial election and re-election Campaigns for former District of Columbia Mayor, Anthony A. Williams serving as his Personal Assistant.  During Mayor William’s first term in office he served in various capacities within the D.C. Sports & Entertainment Commission. His most significant contribution was made while serving as Interim Manager of the D.C. Armory, managing the day to day facilities operations of a 10,000-seat arena, booking sports and entertainment events such as the Inaugural Gala of President George W. Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney.  While in that capacity he developed new revenue generating attractions and established a superior guest environment.  Mr. Brown was also the Sales Manager for RFK Stadium and completed his career in public service in the capacity of Manager, Amateur Athletic Development serving as the liaison between the City and the amateur athletic community.

                Prior to opening his consultancy in 1997, Mr. Brown served the ownership group of Black Enterprise magazine publisher Earl G. Graves and basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson as Public Relations Manager for Pepsi Cola of Washington, D.C., LP.  While there, his efforts led to increased brand identity through product donations, financial support and constituent services.  During his tenure the franchise was awarded Pepsi-Cola’s highest recognition multiple times as Bottler of the Year and he orchestrated the visit by then sitting Vice-President of the United States, Al Gore, during a Black History Month Program Celebration held in collaboration with the White House.  He began his career out of college being responsible for sales of office automation products to the Federal Government during his tenure at the Xerox Corporation, managing accounts with annual budgets in excess of $1.5 million.

                 A native of New Jersey, Mr. Brown received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government from Georgetown University with a concentration in Public Administration and is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the Raymond A. Medley Model Scholar Athlete Award & Manager of the Year Award, Georgetown University Men’s Basketball Team while earning four Varsity Letters; (1) Football & (3) Basketball.  Among his many community associations over the years he has founded both Culture Kids Project, Inc., and the Georgetown University People of Color ReUnion (GUPOCRU). He has also served on the Board of Directors of Friends of the Children, Inc., Bonnie John’s Children’s Fund, Community Services Coalition of Prince George’s County, the Marriott Foundation’s Washington Business Advisory Council for People with Disabilities, Academy of Finance Prince George’s County, WPFW 89.3FM, Union Temple Youth Choir, Prince George’s County Weed and Seed Steering Committee as well as District of Columbia United Way Council. In addition, he served as an inaugural Board Member for the Georgetown University African American Alumni Advisory Board to the President and Assistant Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia.   His most proud accomplishments over the years include serving as the Bronze Medal winning 1988 United States Olympic Men’s Basketball Team Manager (Seoul, Korea), under Coach John Thompson II, Lifetime Membership in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated, the Black Public Relations Society of Washington, D.C. and Prince George’s Public Relation’s Association, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and Lifetime Member of the Amateur Athletic Union. 

He is married to M. Gasby Brown, an entrepreneur and visual artist and they both reside in the state of Maryland. They each have adult daughters Janine & Alexis Nicole and worship at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden where John K. Jenkins, Sr. is their beloved Pastor.
